Great lunch spot
took a risk and visited a new location. It was delicious, so I was definitely right to be adventurous. Both the food and the service were excellent; I heartily recommend both.

BANGING SUBS
Whoa, those subs are insane! We don’t actually eat subs much because we’re from London, but I wish we did now! Very yummy and a great pick. I would highly suggest taking the stroll from bustling Brooklyn.

Everything is extremely solid here—fish Friday with shrimp and calamari, golden boy, Enzo, Giuseppe, and egg sandwiches.

South Brooklyn
My sister and two additional brothers make up my 66-year-old family. As a longshoreman, my father worked in Red Hook. My father used to cash his paycheck at a checking cash location under the BQE because, in those days, bosses would hand out paper checks when they were paid. His car was a 1966 Chevy Impala. We knew we were heading to Defonte’s when he paid his paycheck, so we all got in the car when he went to do so. We adore the location, the folks, and the cuisine. In fact, I’m leaving work early today, and Defonte’s is my first destination. Oh, and my mother appeared to ensure that my father handed her the majority of his paycheck (LOL).

The Real Deal
We recently visited Defonte’s in Brooklyn and had to stop there for enough sandwiches to feed a family! We had the Golden Boy (chicken parmesan with prosciutto), the Enzo (roast beef plus+++), and the corned beef (with Swiss, mustard, and cole slaw)—all of which were delicious! Even though I have a big appetite, I could barely eat half of a “small” corned beef! Drenched it all with a glass of chilled Stella! $3 stouts! The proprietor was really friendly and brought over a container of fried shrimp and their homemade sauce for us to sample. The sauce was the greatest!
